Why a Poverty Reduction Summit? Why Now?

Submitted by Tamarack on April 28, 2017 - 3:05am

Why is it important for us to hold a poverty reduction summit at this point in time?  What path has led us here?  What has to happen now to move us forward in collaboratively reducing poverty across Canada?

In this webinar, James Hughes, former Deputy Minister of Social Development in New Brunswick; Celeste Licorish, Coordinator of Hamilton's Speaker's Bureau; Bhavana Varma, CEO of the United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington; and Paul Born, President & CEO of Tamarack Institute explore how poverty reduction initiatives, at three different levels, have developed and grown, and what obstacles and opportunities we are facing now. How we can we be inclusive of the role that everyone needs to play in poverty reduction?  And what do our shared experiences suggest for next steps?
