The Dollars and Sense of Solving Poverty - National Council of Welfare - The National Council of Welfare's new report shows that Canada is at a crossroads. We're paying a fortune for poverty in some areas and not getting results. In other areas, we have policies that are a far better bargain that don't get much attention. Can we change the balance? The report looks at cost of poverty studies - from cities, provinces and other countries - and the expensive spending patterns they reveal. Then it focuses on the benefits of alternatives, where there is good evidence and Canadian experience to lead the way. The report draws on research ranging from economics to philosophy, culture, governance, and epidemiology. This resource also includes a summary report.
