Kingston Youth Summit: Peer Workshops Raise Awareness and Build Skills to Prevent Homelessness

For the fourth year in a row, the Kingston & Area Youth Council organized a Youth Summit to increase awareness and provide tools for local youth. The annual youth summit is the direct result of feedback from youth who felt a summit was necessary to raise awareness about what leads to youth homelessness.

Kingston's 2014 Poverty Reduction Initiative Report Released

Kingston’s collaborative to address poverty has been making great strides forward. In the September of 2014, a comprehensive report on the accomplishments of the working groups was published and presented to the community. Poverty Reduction Forum in Kingston

On June 3rd 2013 a Community Forum on Poverty Reduction was held at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour in Kingston, ON. The Forum was held to present the 2013 Poverty Reduction Initiative Report: Plans for Action as a Community.

Kingston Moves Forward Towards a Living Wage

On December 4th, 2012 Kingston City Council passed a motion to direct staff to research the costs, benefits and implications of providing all City staff, including contracted workers and students with a living wage. The motion was brought forward by long-time city councillor, Bill Glover.
